High-strength steels for shipbuilding

Flat / Hot Rolled
Flat steel products are obtained by heating semi-finished products with a rectangular cross-section (slab), which are produced by the continuous casting method, to a specific temperature and then rolling them, with thicknesses ranging from 1.40 to 25.40 mm and widths ranging from 700 to 2025 mm, produceed as coil or by cutting/slit-coiling flat steel products from coils.

- The indicated amount of aluminum, niobium and vanadium applies when any such element is used singly.
- When Al and Nb are used together, Nb should be minimum 0.010% and Al(tot) should be minimum 0.015%.

- Impact energy values for "full size" (10 X 10 mm) test specimens for thinner products, impact energy values decreases depending on the thickness.
- Impact test is not carried out for thickness thinner than 6 mm.
Flat / Plate
Heavy plate products are obtained by rolling semi-finished products with a rectangular cross-section (slab) produced by the continuous casting method to a specific temperature, with thicknesses ranging from 6.00 to 200.00 mm and widths ranging from 1000 to 3600 mm.
